2024 No Pressure Book Club Picks

The No Pressure Book Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 6pm, except January, July and December. In person or via Zoom.

February 7 – The Clayfields by Elise Gregory. Local book.

March 6 – Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. Science Fiction; black author for Black History Month.

April 3 – The Three Mothers: How the Mothers of Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and James Baldwin Shaped a Nation by Anna Malaika Tubbs. Nonfiction history; for Women’s History Month.

May 1 – Bring your favorite poem or a poem you’d like to discuss. Poetry Month.

June 5 – Shanghai Girls by Lisa See. Historical Fiction; for Asian American Heritage Month.

August 7 – Lawn Boy by Jonathan Evison. Coming of age novel; for Pride Month. (On ALA’s top 10 challenged books)

September 4 – Persuasion by Jane Austen. Literature/Romance; for Romance Month.

October 2 – One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Fiction; Colombian author for Hispanic Heritage Month.

November 6 – Ceremony by Leslie Marmon Silko. Fiction; Laguna Pueblo descent author for Native American Heritage Month.
