Postponed – Mill City Street Portraits

October 7 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Mary Riordan, Mill City Portraits October 7 2-3pm

Mary RiordanOn Saturday, October 7, at 2 p.m., Mary Riordan will read essays from her collection, “Mill City Street Portraits.”

Mary lived in Menomonie for fifty years, raising four children and working at UW-Stout.  After retirement, she volunteered with Literacy Volunteers in Menomonie, teaching English to dairy farm workers.  She also taught Creative Writing to men and women in the Dunn County Jail.

After her husband, Dan died, she decided to move to Minneapolis, close to three of her children and two of her siblings.  She also began to explore the city and her neighborhood, walking almost every day, and talking to people she met along the way. Her essays are descriptions of those encounters, and reflect her delight in the conversations she had.
