Meet the Artist – Jessie Lawson

Saturday, April 6, 2-3:30pm, Meet artist Jessie Lawson and learn about her many cats and creatures. They will be in the bookstore the whole month of April.
Artist statement:
In my mid-fifties I took early retirement and turned to art. During the next 25 years I exhibited in solo and group shows, co-owned two art galleries, and taught workshops in collage and mixed media. My art has always been connected to all the reading and teaching I’ve done, drawing on images from famous paintings, folk and fairy tales, and other material that portrays fantastic beings. I’m still busy making fantastic creatures: painting them, collaging them, molding and sewing them, and doing whatever else I can think of to bring them into this world.
