An Evening of Books and Original Music

December 5, 6-7pm.

We are excited to host authors and musicians Debra Raye King and Thomas Wayne King for a fascinating evening of readings from their newest books, and for new songs from their unique, original studio albums of the Northland.

Debra Raye King is best known for her book “Gravedigger’s Daughter – Growing up Rural.” Thomas Wayne King has published numerous diverse books, and will read works from his newest Northland anthology of forests and farm “BOOTS BLOOMS BARKS & BAAAS!”

Thomas and Debra King’s newest studio album “It’s Christmas in the Northland” was released November 1, 2024. Recorded at Pinnacle Pointe Studios, Duluth, MN, Allister Quade, engineer, their unique, all-original album contains six instrumentals, four vocals, and two spoken-word tracks. Published by Disc Makers, Pennsauken, NJ, it is available at Tom and Debbi’s many live events, and via Hallbjorn11@gmail.com.   HALLBJORN – peaceful powerful new music of the Northland  is the Kings’ creative collaboration with diverse musicians, and named to honor their first Icelandic Ram, Hallbjorn, at their Sunny Cove Farm, overlooking Lake Superior.   “Rock Bear” in Icelandic, Hallbjorn was father and grandfather to all of the Kings’ current Icelandic sheep flock, now ranging in age from 10-13 years. Debbi and Tom live and write in Solon Springs, WI.  

Debbi and Tom are writing more real-life Wisconsin stories from their years as shepherds, collaborating on “Love in the Time of Sheep.” Their primitive Sunny Cove Farm in northern Douglas County overlooks beautiful Lake Superior and Duluth-Superior harbors. Daily, their flock of tenacious Icelandic wool sheep offer many tales of joys and sorrows over 15 years so far, with more fun and experiences to come.
